WOMEN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Women’s Economic Empowerment (Livelihood and Food Security) is a core consideration of our organizational target. Our main focus is on providing deprived women with the necessary support worthy of face-lifting their shattered conditions.

Women are affected by the lack of financial and food insecurity because they are not engaged in any form of income-generating activity. The needs identified at the origin of our program are: high poverty rate amongst women, lack of knowledge on improving agricultural practices, no education for women (life skills), low participation of women in economic and social activities, lack of an enabling environment for women to access and control resources, lack of leadership amongst women, food shortages and malnutrition, substantial chronic gender stereotyping, and prejudice against women. These are the problems that gave rise to and sustained a context of poverty among women in our targeted communities.

We realize that mostly once they become ineffective in generating incomes, there is a possibility for other members of the family to suffer as well, especially the children. Over the years, we have supported 10,890 deprived women, and at the moment, we are supporting 3500 of them with different programs ranging from education and skills training to microfinance, food security (agriculture), the village saving and loan scheme, leadership training, agronomics training, business and financial literacy training, and entrepreneurship training.

With aspirations to affect the lives of many more deprived women, the organization’s commitment to expansion demonstrates a long-term vision for sustainable impact. As the resource base grows, the organization aims to extend its reach and support to a larger number of women in need. Despite constraints, the passion to make a difference and the hope to expand impact once resources increase are positive and forward-looking perspectives.
